The Law Enforcement Safety Act (LEOSA) was passed in 2004 and amended in 2010 and 2013. It allows current and retired Law Enforcement Officers to carry concealed weapons anywhere in the US subject to some restrictions.

Active and retired officers that meet the act requirements must qualify once per year on either their agency's active duty qualification course or the State's active duty officer qualification course.

Georgia Police Officers Standard Training Council (GPOST) requires active duty qualifications must be on an approved POST course and include a 2 hour block on Use of Force/De-escalation.  Retired officers who wish to qualify under POST requirements must also meet these requirements.  For more information visit the Georgia POST website.

This website contains information to help retired law enforcement officers who wish to carry under LEOSA find a place to qualify.
